Wendy Berkelaar
Musical Director

It began several years ago after a chance introduction. Nobody knew the relationship would last so long. There have been many opportunities since then for encounters, ranging from the sensually clandestine to the sordidly public. Wendy's love affair with I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change has grown from the moment she first heard the soundtrack — as has her desire to be part of this show.

"I've been looking forward to this for over a year," says Wendy. "The chance to work with this talented group of friends on a show that's this incredibly clever and musically diverse makes the wait worth it!"

In spite of being classically trained, holding two music degrees, and running her own successful music studio, Wendy is well-accomplished in the world of musical theatre. She has been involved with the musical aspect of productions in just about every way possible, having successfully made the jump from playing in the pit to musical direction. Credits include Nunsense, Company, Kiss me, Kate, A Little Night Music, The Who's Tommy, & and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.

Wendy would like to thank her parents for not pressuring her to leave the Subsistence Way of Musician Life. Send money.

Scott Chancey
Violinist

Scott discovered his love of the violin at an early age. His musical studies have led him to travel to parts of Europe as well as Guatemala as violist of the Volta String Quartet and he has been a member of the Ottawa Symphony Orchestra and the University of Ottawa Orchestra for the past 4 years. He is currently enrolled at the University of Ottawa and will begin studies in the fall on viola with Neil Gripp.

Kim Wright
Stage Manager

Kim has worked on and off as a stage manager since graduating from college five years ago. Some of her credits include Grease and Cinderella (Orpheus Musical Theatre Company), The Secret Garden, Candide, and Sweeney Todd (Second Company), and Assistant Stage Manager for the Dora Mavor Moore awards. She has LOVED working with this group of people, and looks forward to future challenges. Thanks Bubba.

Paul Arbour
Assistant Stage Manager

Paul is honoured to have been invited to join this talented team. Having worked with most of the production team in other capacities and having just come off of the OLT production of The Fantasticks, Paul is ready to get his feet wet again on more technical stuff. Paul's previous experiences include a few shows with Orpheus: working on set construction and crew for Cinderella; set construction, painting and ASM on Grease; set construction, photography, digital imaging, props and crew on Rags. Now to his acting credit Paul can add "The Mute" from the OLT production of The Fantasticks. Despite being an übergeek, Paul is glad to be honing his artistic side. Don't forget to turn left at the third set of lights.

Joy Lackey
Costume Designer

Joy is delighted to be doing costumes for four of her favourite actor/singers! Her work has been seen on the Orpheus stage (Anything Goes, Company and Grease) and at various high schools in the Ottawa region (Pippin, Into the Woods, Murder in the Cathedral, Theatre Troubles). She would like to thank Ken for giving her some kind of vision, and Kris n' Troy for choosing her when so many others were vying for the job.

Sean Speer
Master Carpenter

Sean joins the production team in this his second time in the role of master carpenter. He previous work was for the Orpheus production of Baby, where he was also charged with some elements of the set design. While carpentry and metal work have been pastimes for this young man since he first carved wood at the ripe age of five, it wasn't until his late teens that he started building for the stage. His construction work has been reduced lately due to a newfound love of rock climbing and his pursuits of a master's degree in Environmental Engineering.

Troy Kay
Producer

Troy has been involved with music and theatre since 1983 as a performer and helping out backstage. He has served on the Board of Directors of Orpheus Musical Theatre Society, a century-old Ottawa institution providing musical theatre to the community. This is his first venture into the realm of running a professional theatre company and producing musical theatre.
