The Performers
Constant Bernard | Brennan | Kodi Cannon | Shaun Toohey

 

Constant Bernard

Constant Bernard is a recent graduate from the University of Ottawa Theatre Department, where he was part of many productions. His most memorable performance was as the Leading Player in Stephen Schwartz and Roger O. Hirson's musical Pippin. A bilingual actor, Constant is no stranger to the French professional stage; his past credits include Michel Tremblay’s Le Passé Antérieur, Les malheurs de Monsieur Dumonchôve, Légendes de Crapauds, Morceaux d’amour 4 and Silence en coulisses. He made his English professional debut earlier this season in Man from the Capital at the GCTC. Constant is also an accomplished singer having won multiple competitions, awards and finishing amongst the Top 32 finalists in the 2004 edition of Canadian Idol. Last summer, he was part of ASNY Productions’ Songs for a New World by Jason Robert Brown.

 

Sean Brennan

This show marks Sean’s NAC 4th Stage debut and it is his second cabaret with Zucchini Grotto. Past performances include; Annie Get Your Gun, Damn Yankees and Guys and Dolls with the Orpheus Musical Society. Sean is thrilled to be back at it again with the Rat Pack! With an exceptional cast and directing team, Rat Pack features music that takes us back to the unforgettable halcyon days of hip and cool! When Sean isn’t acting onstage you can find him singing acapella with the Capital City chorus.

 

Kodi Cannon

Kodi is thrilled to be in first production with Zucchini Grotto! Favorite musical roles include: The Music Man (Harold Hill), Anne of Green Gables (Gilbert), West Side Story (Tony), I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change (Man 1). Kodi is currently studying voice with Yoriko Tanno Kimmons and is specializing in theater at Ottawa University. He would like to thank Wendy and the cast for welcoming him with open arms. Always remember the "fwee"!

 

 

Shaun Toohey

Shaun is a familiar face with Zucchini Grotto from both runs of their production of I Love, You You're Perfect, Now Change. Recent directing credits include Sweet Charity and Grease for Orpheus, Nunsense for the Ottawa Little Theatre and lots of school productions for the Western Quebec School Board, The Ottawa Catholic School Board and the Ottawa School of Speech and Drama. As an actor Shaun has appeared locally with Orpheus, OLT, and ACTco as well as touring I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change through Quebec, and with the Cow Patti Theatre Company in Cornwall. Most weekends Shaun can be found holding a smoking gun as a member of the Eddie May Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre company.

Wendy Berkelaar (piano, musical director)

Wendy has been with Zucchini Grotto since its inaugural performance of I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change in 2003. Since then, she has had the opportunity to work both nationally and internationally - she spent a year with theatres on the Gold Coast and Brisbane in Australia, and plans to return to British Columbia for her second season as musical director for the Okanagan Stage this summer. Selected credits include Life Up On the Wicked Stage & Centre Stage: Modern Broadway (ZGTC); Guys and Dolls (Orpheus); Suds: A Rockin' 60's Soap Opera and You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown (Okangan Stage); I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change and Calamity Jane (Spotlight Theatre)

Pierre Huneault (percussion)

Pierre Huneault has been a performing musician around the Ottawa area, with a number of theatre groups and various music ensembles, for more than fifteen years. He is a graduate of the Department of Music and the Faculty of Education, University of Ottawa. In addition to performing, Pierre has been the Musical Director for several local high school productions, including the OCCSB presentation of The Music Man. He is currently a Music teacher with the Ottawa Catholic School Board.

Pierre Monfils (bass and guitar)

The 2008 production of The Rat Pack is Pierre’s third playing experience with the Zucchini Grotto Theatre Company. He thoroughly enjoyed playing in Centre Stage Cabaret and Life Up On The Wicked Stage. His other musical activities include playing bass for the Outaouais R&B band "Mixed-Nuts", frequently performing at the Café des Artistes de la Lièvre in Buckingham, the Ottawa Jazz Festival (2004, 2005) with Dominique Forest and Friends, and various free-lancing projects. When not involved in music Pierre enjoys private teaching, the great outdoors and travelling.
